You Need to Calm Down: The Internet’s Most Relaxing Songs, All in One Playlist
Let’s be honest—modern life is loud.
And if you're anything like me (read: a parent of two toddlers, a tween, a teen, and a young adult), the search for calm isn't a luxury… it's a survival skill.
As many of you know, I have four kids at home, two of which are screaming little… angels. And while I love them dearly, their volume levels regularly rival those of an Athens Rock Lobsters game. So in a moment of desperation (and hope), I turned to the internet and searched far and wide for the most calming music out there.
I dug through blogs, Reddit threads, Spotify lists, YouTube comments, and even weird corners of the internet where people passionately debate the soothing power of rainfall set to ambient synth. Then, I gathered everything I could find into one beautifully serene Spotify playlist—and I’ve been playing it ever since when tensions reach MAX levels.

I shared it with everyone in my house who needs a little more chill in their lives, and now I’m sharing it with you—in hopes that it helps soothe your anxious mind, settle your nervous system, or help you regroup after your own round of screaming maniacs.
What’s in the Playlist?
This playlist includes a wide range of sounds—from ambient, classical, and instrumental to soft indie, acoustic, and ethereal electronic. Some internet-beloved gems you’ll find:
“Weightless” by Marconi Union – Literally engineered to reduce anxiety. It’s been studied. It works. Often cited as one of the most relaxing songs ever recorded, it's known for its ability to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation.
“Clair de Lune” by Claude Debussy – A timeless piano piece that feels like a lullaby for your brain. (a fave of Edward’s, iykyk)
“Sunset Lover” by Petit Biscuit – Chill, dreamy, a little wistful. Just the right vibe for an emotional exhale. A melodic blend of electronic and acoustic elements that evokes a sense of calm and nostalgia.
“Holocene” by Bon Iver – The soundtrack to your next existential but peaceful moment. An introspective track with soothing vocals and gentle instrumentation.
When to Use It:
While working, to help you focus without tension
During a yoga or meditation session
On your commute home to help decompress from work stress
As a wind-down routine before sleep
When your kids are screaming, your inbox is overflowing, or your brain is stuck in doomscroll mode
TL;DR:
I made a calming playlist so I could stay sane. It helped. Now it’s yours.
Let me know your favorite track—or send me your go-to calming songs if I missed any! I love adding to the collection.
Stay chill out there,
Bethany
